... assistants, a rake-thin woman who introduced herself as Tracey, came out to admire the bikes and give us the benefit of her knowledge of all things biking and a variety of other subjects. In a non-stop Louisiana twang that could split concrete at 50 paces, she held forth virtually non-stop for almost half an hour, regaling us with tales of her no-good boyfriend (whom we very soon felt a great deal of sympathy for), his two ...

... bike gives up soon after. A two hour wait and we load the bike again onto the back of the support vehicle.

We continue on our bikes for the 200 miles still to do and get to our hotel at columbus at about 730. Interesting doing battle on the maze of roads around Houston, but we get through, despite the heavy traffic.

    DAY THREE
    May 19, 2015
    From: Giddings, TX
    To: Orzona, TX
    Miles: 331

We checked the weather for Austin and it did not look good. So today we left the hotel in Giddings, TX in full rain gear. We managed to avoid the rain for almost two blocks. Then down it came. This time we were prepared so it didn't really affect us. Our Scala Rider G9 headsets worked perfectly rain or shine so at least we could communicate in the weather.
