Today the journey began! My mom and I drove to Kansas City in order for me to board my flight early tomorrow morning. It took a while to get going because I kept remembering last minute things, and even when we got to Kansas City we had to make several emergency supply stops because apparently I forgot to pack my brain (my mom was thrilled about this). However, all worked out and we ended up getting to ...

... we will be doing over the next 13 days.

Also, once I get home from this trip, I will have to finish out my Guatemala blog. It was a CRAZY 5 days that I had between my trips. We got all prettied up and went to Mass at St. James church, and even though we showed up late, it was the most welcoming Mass I've ever seen. It was name tag Sunday, so everyone could figure out each other's names which was good because we met a lot of people and got to learn more about ...

... Owen snuck up on me: "Looking strong, Mate. Want me to run with you?" He could have easily taken off (he runs at double my pace!). As he still had another lap to go, I declined. I also wanted to finish the battle on my own. "Oweeeeeyy. Wait!" I reconsidered. It would be special to finish the much-trained-for race with him. When the finish line was in sight, we held hands...for effect...and so he could pull me along...and because it was special. The whole ...
