So far, in six days crossing the majority of the continental United States, driving over 40 hours, over 2,500 miles, and not ONCE did we stop to buy fast food. Until today.

Today began normally. Early start, pack the car, waiting in line to use the waffle machine, drink the machine-dispensed orange "juice" (the legal department informs me that I can't technically call it juice without the quotation marks around the ...

... I expected them to be far better at. After a hearty meal, we headed down CA-1 along 90 miles of wilderness along a coast known as the Big Sur. Towns are non-existent. The road twists and turns along the edge of 500-900 foot tall cliffs, overlooking rocks and kelp forests in the crashing sea below. ... we noticed the price of gas had jumped appx. 30-50 cents/gallon. We have averaged around $3.80/gallon premium since starting the trip, and today when filing up outside Bakersfield, I paid $4.19/gal. I'm sure this would have absolutely nothing to do with the fact that California is run by Dems and the state is bankrupt. So far, very little hiway construction observed in the far left state.

    Just before we ...

... Haveing reached the Fresno Int. Airport we pulled up on the rental car return to change vehicle. A nice man helped us and asked us to pull into the parking lot to give us a replacement. After looking for a little while he pulled out a big Beuick in the other end of the parking lot. With speed and accurecy he backed it all the way up to us, doing a s-turn halfway there to pull up curbside to us. Sweeet!! It was a bigger, spacier and more luxarious car with six seats ...
