... s net income was lowing than $100,000 gets free tuition and if less than $60,000 they get free tuition and free accommodation and meals. The residence and meals deal only costs $5,000 for 9 months and costs are not different whether you are international or local, so it is actually really affordable - perhaps Amanda could study there. At Seattle, the University of Washington is similarly impressive to say ...

Awake in Seattle

... past. During our visit to the aquarium we checked out the Tropical tanks, the Underwater dome and watched the shore birds exhibition. There they were being fed and the puffins and other birds dived and swam underwater catching the fish. We then went to the sea otters and the seals. I was amazed at how big the sea otters were. They were definitely clowns. They loved to swim on their backs and preen themselves and dive. A lovely couple of ...

... through the main shopping area of the city. this revolves around Robson and Granville Streets. There are many shops, much the same as most cities with some intersting buiding facades. We went down towards the waterfront and found more interesting shops along Water Street. this is the older part of town and a section of this used to be called Gastown. Here we found an amazing steam run clock which sounds Westminster ...

... had a terrible time getting Debra's big SUV onto his truck. But he told her, "Don't worry! I have a friend who drives a cab. He'll get you there in time!" "What are you going to do with my car?" Debra asked with more than a little trepidation. "Don't worry about it. It'll be safe. You gotta have faith!" Not only was Debra there in time to hear Rob's great job on the Anthem, but she was ...

Sleepy In Seattle

... made sure we got the leftover bottle of red wine which ourselves and Bob and Maryanne managed to polish off. We passed through Glacier National Park that evening which was still covered in snow, but as it started getting dark we couldnt see much of it. We hit the bunks for another night on the train and when we woke up we were in Washington passing through the Cascade mountains. The scenery was fab, really green and still lots of snow. We arrived in ...

Walking 'Cross the US for HD (T-minus 42 days)

... the U.S. to raise money to battle diseases such as Alzheimer's, multiple sclerosis and lung cancer. In an emotional walk in 2004, Don hiked 106 miles through the Cascade Mountains blindfolded in empathy for Maria Federici (www.mariasmiracle.com), a young Washingtonian blinded in a traffic accident caused by an unsecured load. Everywhere Don goes he brings a smile and a greeting, and, if you ...

A Happy Heart, a Cheerful Face (T-minus 52 days)

... photograph we used as the model for the art. There is nothing like the original to capture Don's essential aura of happiness and contentment. Here's another Bible verse that I think now will always come to mind when I see this photo: "A happy heart makes the face cheerful." (Proverbs 15:13)

... out to find happy hour and some food. We find a great Korean tapas bar with some great food and cheap beers so happy days. We then head off to watch the American footy - Seattle Seahawks vs Oakland Raiders. The atmosphere is pretty good although it beggars believe that four 15 minute quarters can take 3 hours. The Seahawks come out victorious 19-15 although we spend a lot of the game confused as to what the hell is going on.

Fun Scams from Around the World

... We wore money belts on this entire trip to hold our important documents, passports and cash. I did not carry a purse. Julius did not carry a wallet. It made me look about four months pregnant but as the trip went on it got smaller so that helped. Everyone should travel with a money belt because there is no way people can rob you of it without you knowing it. If I am wearing a dress and can't get to my money belt I like to ...

... how far? In Buenos Aires, domestic and international are twenty miles apart. KNOW THAT, if you're making connections! Save yourself a hell of a headache. Other savvies, like packing. I've never used a Swiss Army knife in my life. Why would I think I would need one on a cruise ship? I bought one, because the list said to. It hasn't been opened yet. I also don't sew, but I have a cute little sewing kit. And the apparel! Long johns ...
