    Going home

A travel blog entry by rhodetrip67 on Aug 02, 2015

Stayed over in Charlotte last night. It was our first experience with AirBNB and it went well. Jonathan and his partner were very nice and the room was clean and comfortable. On the other hand our flight experience was not nearly as good. USAir/American Airlines really screwed the pooch. They were asking for volunteers to give up seats and we decided ...

Must catch up so I will be doing dot points. I think I have created a monster. Nag, Nag, Nag.

Arrived in Bardstown. We had visited here in 1993 and loved it. This time, we stayed at the Old Kentucky Home State Park where we met a couple from West Kentucky. She was an Aussie and wanted to catch up. We invited them to our motorhome after dinner. Had nice local dinner at Mammys in town.

Just north of Charlotte we went through a thunderstorm with strong winds and hail. It was so bad that some cars were pulling off under the overpasses to avoid the hail. Just south of Charlotte it cleared up, we crossed the border into SC and arrived at the Hilton Garden Inn in Rock Hill, SC at 4:50. The assistant manager came onto the bus and welcomed us. He literally rolled out a red carpet for us to come into ...

... was calling it a day!

    Hilton Head, South Carolina
The drive here was short and pleasant going over a few bridges and toll roads to a beautiful lush landscaping & wooded island. Our goal was for Ken to play a round in this grand golfer's haven, eat a good seafood dinner and move on to my brother's place up north. Fate showed up and met us at Walmart...long story/short - we spent a few hours listening to a time share presentation and with ...
