... Beverley from the Sunshine Coast and Rob and Beverly (yes another one) from Ryde in Sydney. It turned out the two Beverleys had relations in common in Rockhampton – unknown to both of them !! So – old home week !!

... here are great - comfortable and spacious. The other trains are fine if you have a bed, but I booked too late and was stuck on a hard, upright seat, squished together with loads of other people. A lot of people just had standing tickets so the whole train was completely crowded, dirty and noisy. I just put my headphones in, put my head on the table and shut my eyes, but I didn't get much sleep! I think everyone who's travelled in China has had a bad train experience, ...
... big things, little things and long things. Don't ask me! I haven't yet found pictures of some of them on the Internet in order to work out what we have eaten. Most have been delicious. Only one was tasteless and had the texture of rubber. We found a beautiful little beach, and so spent a while lying on the sand. Good white sand. ... houses for their outstanding selection of Chinese teas. One thing that became obvious quickly inside the real China is that English speaking people, outside major hotels, is hard to find so it is often a very amusing interaction as you negotiate prices in the side streets.
Overall we were extremely impressed at how advanced, clean and developed Xiamen is relative to both our expectations.
Back to the South China Sea for a full day at sea on to Shanghai! ...
... night, this time we dined with Cheryl, her Dad Tom and her twins, William and Kate, lovely family from Melbourne. We had a great meal, lots of drinks and great company, we sat right at the front where everyone came into the dining room, so we all kept chatting to people we knew as they walked in and out, this was a great spot!!
After dinner, there was a production show so we all went to see it, but it had already started but what we saw was good.
