... hangover food & wifi. The grilled chicken and crispy bacon wrap with poweraid just hit the spot, while Andy devoured a Big Mac meal to cure his hangover jelly belly. On road again turning off on route 125 on the hilly bumpy roller coaster road up to Stratford to rejoin Route 66 and carry on somewhat behind schedule. Passing inmate workers in their striped prison uniforms clearing up the curbside. Drove thru Springfield on Route 66, but soon got confused at the ...

... the town of Radiator Springs. In both Missouri and Kansas there is evidence of financial struggles for businesses, with many closed, including the famous Soda Fountain in Baxter Springs, which is now some sort of tertiary learning centre. This was a real disappointment as inside you could see the place completely decked out as it would have been in the days when this sort of place would have been the social hub of the town. It ...

    Joplin, Missouri to Oaklahoma

There is only 13 miles of R66 in Kansas, so it doesn't take us long to drive through this corner of the state. We heard an ad on the radio about a BBQ festival in Oklahoma, it wasn't to far away so this was something we just had to check out. We arrived just after it started and they were already running out of the $6 tasting kits, the kits allowed you to sample about 12 stalls BBQ offerings; bargain! The stalls were all running out of food fast so we tried to sample as much as we could, pulled pork was the star but it was all so ...

    Claremore OK KOA Campground

... America sites, so we opted for the KOA in Claremore, OK. Typical KOA, campsites sitting on top of each other without a tree for miles. It is beside a combined casino and racetrack. I walked over and checked out the casino.... usual sad place... fat, middle aged and up smokers glued to slot machines. However it was cool this morning to see the race horses, the beautiful race horses, warming up. Bright sunny day, starting to warm up. Next stop ...
