The storms continue here in southwestern Colorado. The Blue Mesa Lake is full, the rivers are high, and flash flood warnings are in effect. In fact, the folks of Gunnison are concerned that this weekend's kayak competition may need to be postponed because the white water is to dangerous.

I got even more impressed with my RAM 3500. For the first time I used the Smart Brake feature. This feature uses diesel engine braking to keep a constant speed when going down hills. It worked superbly and really saved on the brakes. It make the drive very comfortable.

Gunnison CO is in the heart of the Colorado Rockies and the drive there was mostly uphill but our trusty RV managed just fine. We only had two nights and one day in Gunnison and we had to make a choice. Should we go to the Black Canyon National Park which would have been a 60 mile round trip drive to park entrance, or should we spend the day hiking nearer ...
