Started our road trip today. We drove out of Dallas towards Jackson, Mississippi stopping along the way for lunch at Catfish Village that serves tradition southern food. We had more than our fill of deep fried EVERYTHING.

We arrived in Jackson and enjoyed a quick self guided tour around the city. We did accidentally find ourselves in the dodgier part of town. Thank goodness for our trusty nav man. ...

The next leg of our journey today after a quick visit to Jackson. I have to say, I'm glad it was only a quick visit. We made our way back to the Visitor's Center, watched a movie on the Siege of Vicksburg (see my comments for more details), then drove on ...

Today marked our last stop for this trip, which was the Arkansas Post National Memorial. This site is off the beaten path in eastern Arkansas; another one of those places that you have to want to go to - you're not going to stumble upon it by accident! This was the location of a important trading post for the French, Spanish, and early Americans. It is on a bayou off the Arkansas River and owed much of its significance to its location and ...

    The Night Before

... pick it up Tuesday and ten drive northwest to Colorado. We will weave our way through the state, northward to Wyoming. Being native Mississippians, and it being mid July, we are looking to go to the cooler elevations... for two weeks.

I suggested the RV trip to the mountains and a cooler climate to take the place of going to Disney World in Florida this fall. Ethan is not yet 6 ...
