I made it to gulf shores around 6pm. Didn't take long to make friends with some locals who invited me to spend the evening with them. Off we went to Papa Roccos- a tiny locals hangout known for "warm beer & lousy pizza."
... up some beer, headed to a beach - the first beach (what was this beach called Workman?) and Pensacola beach - and had fun playing bat and ball, horse shoes, swimming, and paddle boarding. We also met up with their friends and Heather's family during the stay which was really good - everybody seemed very relaxed and friendly. ... back at the condo, Josh and I have been to the outdoor hot tub, but didn't make any pix - same hot tub as before. And I guess I'd better start getting stuff together to head for home and Maui tomorrow.
Thanks for sharing our wonderful beach vacation. We've had a lot of fun, and if I could've custom ordered the weather, I would have requested exactly the weather we've had. Perfect.

... I would've loved to know how much some of that stuff cost! At the entrance to the pier is an enormous statue of a sea turtle, so we made pix with that before venturing out onto the pier. Josh actually saw a pretty good-sized shark, but by the time I got there to make its picture, it was too far below the surface to show up. I made a photo of where a shark used to be, but didn't include it here. (Pretty dull photo, actually.)
... who lives in the swamp - shall we call this one George? We weren't able to get a photo of George yesterday, but I did get one today - that will show up later. I'm trying to do this in consecutive order. We now understand the Plantation signs that "Alligators Are Not Pets." That swamp looks like a cozy place for an alligator!
