Day 12, Salinas – The last special event of our reunion with Berkeley was meeting Heather, his fiancée. We packed up the car and rendezvoused at a café as we headed north again. Heather is a lovely, beautiful lady and we enjoyed getting to know her in our short time together. Her son is in Europe and has visited a few of the places we were last summer, so we had a lot in common to chat about.

We just wanted to see it quickly and head on, but the only option was a tour that began nearly an hour later that cost $35 and lasted a couple of hours and you had to ride a bus from their visitor center to the castle.
