Hotel is very nice, newly renovated, first class room. Unexpectedly, the room has a refrigerator and microwave. Got a really good price on the room, too. The neighborhood is definitely seedy though.

Today was a travel day. We left our room in Regina and drove all the way to Calgary.

Along the way, we stopped for a needed "washroom stop" at a roadside museum in the tiny town of Chaplain, SK. As we pulled into the parking lot, we saw enormous piles of white stuff behind the small museum. Once the immediate needs were taken care of, we …

... that they did! To my surprise and initial embarrassment, they organised what's called a Calgary White Ceremony ( -we-can-help/white-hat-ceremony?device= mobile). A very thoughtful gesture, which made me quickly forget my luggage issue. I've included a video of the Ceremony and a photo of the group who met me. So with my luggage arriving later in the afternoon, which we had to return to the airport for later, we had some time to ...

Not an auspicious start. We tried to get into the Calgary business lounge with our business lounge card that we paid for, but we were refused admittance. Renovations, so only "special" people get in. What did we pay for? Air Canada definitely getting a letter. Seems the airlines don't really want to be inconvenienced by ...

... I am awake. The ride to the airport was smooth although I was shocked to see the level of traffic on the Deerfoot going south at 7am. I guess I am not regularly exposed to seeing the daily rush hour that occurs on the Deerfoot so it took me by great surprise seeing stretches of vehicles moving at such a slow pace. It was definitely a frosty morning leaving the house which makes me feel even more excited to be heading south where ...

... to see Tisha and Rhiannon too which was wonderful:) Monica made us an amazing dinner of Alberta beef tenderloin, she had picked up an array of macaroons for dessert. Conrad and i excused ourselves after dinner to put the kids to bed, i lay down with Ashton (we had separated him from the other kids as when he is overtired he tends to wake in the night) and before a few minutes had passed i was asleep too! Next thing i knew it was the middle of the night and i was still in my clothes ...
