... Elantra (similar to my name) Ha ha. Had a good run round Chicago. Arrived at New Buffalo after one and a half hours. Called at the casino there and had lunch recommended by Andrew. Both had salads at Hard Rock Cafe. We had a quick look around. Well I did Geoff stayed in car. We then set off for South Bend following instructions Geoff had previously printed off. However because we were travelling from New Buffalo to South Bend it proved difficult. As our instructions were ...

... Park Zoo was next on the agenda and we travelled from central Chicago out on the underground or 'Metra' as all the sign posts say. A walk through the pleasant Lincoln Park (where we saw rare nesting black-crowned herons) before entering the zoo itself which, unbelievably, is free of charge! ... But we finally made it to Navy Pier. Navy Pier was again under construction like it was back in 2010. I don't believe we ever get to see this place at its best. We ate dinner at Margaritaville which was cheaper than our lunch. Go figure! We walked to the end of the pier and back. It was a beautiful night to just walk and take in the fresh air. From Navy Pier we walked the six blocks back to our hotel where we took the kids to the 27th floor to swim. We came back and called it the ...

There was a strange smell in our rooms last night. It seemed like the exhaust from the kitchen was coming through the room. Andy and Kelly complained to the hotel manager and they gave us a free night.

After breakfast, Kelly and Raghad left to return a few items that they bought. Andy and Lucas left for the Lego store. Me and the boys decided to walk around and ...

        Chicago -the windy city

A travel blog entry by rubyredlips on Oct 12, 2014

Since coming to America, I have been dying to eat some good proper pancakes. While TOny was strolling last night he came across "The Original Pancake House', it has to be the best pancake place ever in the whole wind world. Tony ordered a banana platter while I ordered a blueberry platter. My, oh my, oh my. 6 pancakes later and Tony is rolling me out the door. I wonder if they deliver to Scotland? Our Chicago bound train is not until 4:05pm, so we want to try and fit in ...
