... no signs of tall trees. In fact, we were alternating between shrubs and normal pine trees. Once we were near the top of these mountains, we were suddenly in the middle of a forest of giant trees!! The trees were so tall that you have to strain your neck to see their top. We search for the bronze plaque that is the official end of Route 66 (the road trip normally goes from Chicago to Santa Monica. ... across the river. I took the interstate back to Needles where I followed the older roots through the town which followed the railroad tracks. I rejoined the interstate for a short spell before taking the turnoff for US95 towards Las Vegas, Nevada. The road headed back into the desert northwards before I took the left turn back towards the small towns of Goffs and Fenner, both of which have seen better days. Fenner is the last gas stop for I-40 for 55 ...

So this morning we started our journey towards Fresno airport and a vehicle replacement in the "mindblowing" speeds of 35 mph due to the spare tired we were driveing on. Last night was also pretty bad in terms of a good nights sleep. It felt like the motel had very thin walls because I could hear people walking around on the floor on top of us.
