... is the first place I've seen gas at over $5 a gallon. I crossed over the interstate and embarked on the 70 mile stretch through the heart of the Mojave Desert where the towns of Essex, Danby, Chambless, Amboy and Bagdad have either disappeared or almost disappeared. So this morning we started our journey towards Fresno airport and a vehicle replacement in the "mindblowing" speeds of 35 mph due to the spare tired we were driveing on. Last night was also pretty bad in terms of a good nights sleep. It felt like the motel had very thin walls because I could hear people walking around on the floor on top of us.
