... and Steinlager (snore) as well as a good selection of Kiwi and Aussie wines, and Bundaberg ginger beer and Lemon, Lime and bitters. I was hooked on the pub the moment I saw they had L,L&B. You just can't get that in the US, and it's my staple drink back home. I'm holding out hope its common in the UK though. Sorry, I digress. So we headed off to the bar. My first move (after ordering a ginger beer) was to check out the jukebox. No Surprise there. It was ...

... would have pity on us and direct us to the University district where our beautiful room awaited us. As we neared downtown we approached the bus driver to see if she could tell us which bus to catch. She was most helpful and didn't want to leave on our own. She asked her supervisor and then a group of people for help. A friendly young couple told her that they were going that way and would see that we got there. They had ...

Sleepless in Seat-33e

12 hours on a plane is a long time. Food and movies don´t really compensate. On this occasion to make matters worse we´re crossing the International Date Line which means that we get the same day twice! So...fly for 12 hours, sit in LA for 5 hours, fly for another 3 hours and still manage to arrive in Seattle only 15minutes after we set off. After being 13 hours ahead of the UK in New Zealand we´re suddenly 7 hours behind. All this translates into a ...

Thanks so much for feeding us!!!! YUM and such a load off not having to call for take out or figure out what to cook-our credit card thanks you, too. I wasn't very clear explaining the calendar, it is just so people can view what others are bringing to help better figure out what we need. You don't need to do anything with calendar, you can just communicate directly with whoever you see most often (Anne, JP, CarolB, or Kristy) to ...

... these you mix 2 chemicals in a tube and it glows. You can just about see but not to read or anything detailed. At 2030 we were asked to go to the dining car where they had managed to heat up steaks or fish, so that at least people could eat. In the glow there was only the candles missing to make it really romantic - like being broken down on the Orient Express or in an Agatha Christie thriller! At 2130 'Plan B' was announced. Our locos had not quite ...

... in 62 months. Trains: We traveled on over 80 trains, not including too many painful platform transfers up and down 6 flights of stairs (Question of the century: why don't they build more escalators or elevators in these train stations? This stair climb in between platforms is the single cause of stress and exhaustion with travelers and we are not alone on this topic- everyone commiserates on this!). Ryan was a real gem and gentleman and was always ...

... a strange one. It is cheap, reliable and easy to use. For a moment I thought I was in Canada or somewhere else. The natives seem friendy - chatted to a guy on the bus and checked in ok the hostel is more like a laid back hotel - just as the guidebook promised. However there seems to be far too much German for me to overhear for my liking... Decided the place was a bit quiet for my liking and had an early night hoping it would be more fun tomorrow.

... said. "At this point it doesn't matter," I replied. "Let's just get out of the car." I was directed into a slot against a building beside a telephone pole. Another car was parked beside as the traffic-director-person took my money. Sometimes you just have to go on faith. We headed down the alley, and up the hill to the Dome. Pop Tarts! The sponsor of the Idol Tour, and Matt's favorite breakfast food. Freeze'em and eat'em like a Pop(tart)sicle said ...

We checked in, then headed back to West Seattle, to visit some of Sally's childhood haunts, eat fish and chips at The Spud, where she ate as a kid, drive past her old home and school, and marvel over how much things had changed, and how much had stayed the same. This morning, we got up, found a breakfast place in town, and sat there for hours, drinking coffee and writing up the questions for our afternoon interview with William Catton ...

From here we moved around the area showcasing the musical endevours of those from the Pacific Northwest (area around Seattle), including Nirvana. Upstairs we wondered through the realm of Jimmy Hendrix and Bob Dylan. These areas included fragments of smashed guitars from various concerts, as well as oringinal sheet music, mixing benches ...
