When restoration was proposed at this well, Lewis Carroll had something to say about it: "leave well alone" :-) On the opposite bank lies Port Meadow, given to Oxford by William the Conqueror. The Michael ley line energy we sensed was strong here, with a fine St. George and Dragon stained glass window and the pagan Green Man peering out from the corner of a column.
