We arrived at our hotel at 6.30am, tired after our overnight journey. We were not allowed to check in until 8/8.30am so just sat in reception reading our books. It was 10am by the time we actually checked in!

... Varkala instead. We had the luxury of being near a well stocked supermarket during our short time in Mysore. Something I have really missed being away is the ability to get fresh food and variety from one place. There are hundreds of little hole in the wall stores selling anything from water to deodorant but nothing like we have in NZ. The supermarket down the road from our hotel was excellent. Once we settled in the hotel, we ventured to the Mysore Zoo which turned my sleepy, and exhausted attitude into a very upbeat excited one! I got to see elephants, zebras, lions, peacocks and much more. I also had a lovely conversation with an older woman about her son who lives in Chicago and married an American lady. She was darling and introduced me to her entire family once they caught up with her.

... pairs - a son and father, a daughter and mother (take note, Gillian!), and two male cousins - and five singles - three females and two males. We all get along and mix and match with seating at meals and chatting while touring interesting sites. It's quite delightful and we feel like we have made good friends.
