... the majesty of the carvings and paintings. It was enough to make me defiant. I left feeling quite sure that there are richer palaces the world over. Anyway, palaces are kind of weird, given that they are ostentatious displays of wealth. Especially challenging in a place like India, where the poverty is so visible.

Learning form experience they built the new palace in stones and not in wood. When you are a foreigner you pay your entrance fee about ten times higher than Indians (it seems to be the same all over India).
