Got away before 7 and made good time (about 6 minutes) to the station - Wien Westbahnhof this time. Checked the platform of the train, grabbed a couple of salad rolls, and then ducked into the First Class Lounge for a free coffee. We traveled to Mittelstation Dachstein Krippenstein - Seliban at 1350, to the area known as The Schonberglam. By the time we were less than a quarter the way up we were in clouds, the sun was not doing its job. At the station we received our tour number for the ice cave and was told it will start in 15 mins, they recommend it as a 30 min walk. It is up hill along a ...

... the Bronze Age. But today it is the picturesque beauty of the lake and what is in one of the churches that draws people here. The ferry waits for the passengers from the train to disembark before it sets of quietly across the calm lake. When approaching the town you could imagine what it would be like when the sun shines. ( we bought post cards later in the morning to see what it would be like) While walking to the ferry Geoff pulled a muscle in his calf, just enough ...
