Our day started with a really nice breakfast spread this morning. Then the group met in the lobby of the hotel at 10am for our walking orientation tour of Vienna City centre. It took about 2 hours and we went around some of the main attractions like St Stephens cathedral, where we took a moment to have a quick look inside. Being a Sunday morning there was a service going on, it was quite strange as they had an ...
... in a beir garten for a late lunch. The
establishment seemed to serve either deepfried dishes eg schnizels or
boiled beef in a broth. We went for the broth. I had some weiner
white sausages and mustard followed by ox tongue in a broth. Rather
nice and certainly filled us up so we won't need tea.
So now we are at the airport and only
an hour away from our flight home. There will be a ...

We ate breakfast at 0300 and again at 0930 on a different flight
Enough to put anyone off breakfast on a plane
SA planes are good with their meals, we have decided.
But we do still have all the entertainment you could wish for

... quite a bit of Rossini lately. We thoroughly enjoyed the production. High energy, continous action when the chorus is on stage and lots of sight gags. Jesus Lopez-Cobos was the conductor. Although all the lead singers were quite evenly matched the lead Cenerentola character was the standout for me. Margerita Gritskova, another Russian mezzo with a very clear voice and a distinctive quality. The audience was very enthusiastic.

Great to see the guys in action and it was only slightly scary to be packed into a very small space with 7 HUGE men with long hair, tattoos and attitude....but they couldn't have been more welcoming of the strangers sitting timidly on their sofa smiling encouragingly at every sample that was blasted out!
