... 3 euros each, Freida and Paola (and their driver) brought our knees painlessly down the rest of the mountain! By now, there were a lot of people on the road, so we felt rather royal. After lunch, we went through a similar ticket/turnstile process and entered the castle where Ludwig spent his childhood summers, Hohenschwangau. Officially 3 died, but that's the "official" number. What would Herr Hitler think ...

We had a great breakfast in a wonderful hotel (Alpchalet). We checked out at 8:40 to get to the ticket center for our castle tours. Our first tour of Hohenschangau was very impressive. It was the first castle we had toured that one could imagine living in and it had all the furnishings preserved. The walls were all decorated with paintings applied directly to the wall. The hike to the second ...

... Disney created the castle at Disneyland. But we didn't go into it because it's really such a tourist stop....several bus loads arrived just before us and the line for tickets was over a block long. We have one photo.. From a lovely cemetery in Fussen.

Our spellplatze for the night was quite large but comfortable with lots of stores within walking distance. We stayed two nights here because it rained all day ...
