Once in Nong Khai, we cleared immigration into Thailand and James got pulled aside to fill in some form about yellow fever or something. It was pretty weird cause the guy who pulled him aside just kept taking selfies with him as he did the paperwork. Next we got on the train to go to Bangkok. It was an overnight train.

We arrived in the Laos capital with little in the way of seat sharing, poultry or urinating old men. We'd just sat down at our Funky Monkey Guesthouse when in walks Jocelyn and Damien, followed shortly after by Chloe and Simon (UK) followed shortly by most of our Vang Vieng Tubing travel friends.

The night market is spread along right down the main front of the river. From the river you can see across to Thailand and also the 1st friendship bridge that links across the river into Thailand. We did a bit of browsing at the market before heading for some food and then back to the hostel.
