      ... standing. You were supposed to see where the Olympic touch is lit, but we never really saw it. I'm glad we didn't do the tour though because is was very expensive and the people at our dinner table said most of it was in Italian anyways.       ... of the various events were awarded a wreath of olive leaves. It was a great honor the win one of these events and the winners lived in glory and honor the rest of their lives.. We saw the stadium where the running events took place. It held 45,000 people. There were no seats. Spectators sat or stood on the grass surrounding the field. It was really a beautiful impressive place.

      ... day was partly cloudy and warm. Very warm in the sun. We had the usual slow start to the day. We both still felt full after last night dinner - it was our first transgression into serious recreational eating. Even Craig didn't have breakfast though he drank milk all day. It wasn't until 5pm when we had something light to eat - an ice cream. Craig went to the gym to do a weights workout about 11am and about midday he headed to the pool deck to sunbath and swim. ...
