So today is our last day and we are both ready to be done with it! We arrived not until noon in Alicante and we had reserved an excursion to see two towns near Alicante. One was Jalon and is famous for Muscatel wine and the other was Aleta famous for nothing except that the tour guide lives there. So this day turned out to be a double holiday in Spain and ...
Alicante, Valencian Country, Spain and Canary Islands mamafeathers... before reaching the top (cursed our flip-flops) and opted for an easier path that led to the furthest point out to sea. The views were fantastic, and Sophie managed to pet a seagull despite my warnings that it might have the swine flu.

PICTURES:
http://picasaw eb.google.ca/Jonny.D.Lawrence/20091021B enidormCalpe?authkey=Gv1sRgCNe0y9HEn7yW DA&feat=directlink

Alicante, Valencian Country, Spain and Canary Islands jessicahwang... I realize that my phobia of large horrid American groups of people are realized when we walk through el barrio and we get all these horrible stares for being Americano and obnoxious. I hate tourists in Chicago, of course I don't wanna be one in Spain! And I know how much hassle it is for not much thanks, (thanks Walgreens). And so I hate being ostentatious like that. We did get some free drinks and the food was on CIEE which ...
Alicante, Valencian Country, Spain and Canary Islands jessicahwang... consists of three countries". So, in my English accent i played along and said "I am English". He said " they don't teach you things like that in uni, but its important". Agreeingly, I replied "well, I have been to uni and they certainly did not teach me that". He then said that the best way to keep your passport safe is to bury it. Well after loosing the coke bottle in the sand this certainly wasnt an option for me. However, it may be an idea to buy Alex a shovel.
Alacante, Valencia, Spain chris_jones01...
Alicante, Spain ling-enAfter a very early start (4am for Pete) we left the shelter of the little bay we'd been hiding in for the last 2 days. It seems this is the pattern in the Med this time of the year as everyone who is leaving skips up the coast dodging the bad weather on their way out. We actually expected the seas to be a little rough after the strong winds that had blown, but we were ...
Alicante, Valencian Country, Spain and Canary Islands bellavita... into the car and demonstrates that you must put your foot on the brake before you press the Start button. (Can you believe it ... cars starting with buttons now??) Ok, the car is started, now why are the lights on? Bernie fiddles around trying to find the light switch. Nope ... can't find it ... Bernie goes back in to face the natives. Young man returns, fiddles around and then says ... they are automatic, the lights are on because it is dark under here ... (Can you ...
Alicante, Spain mistymornSanta Pola This weekend we took a road trip to Santa Pola and Alicante. Friday afternoon after school we picked the girls up from school and made the 4 hour drive to the eastern coast of Spain. A drive made interesting by a very full car: Victor y Dori, the 3 niñas, Abuela (Grandma), and myself. Dori borrowed a larger vehicle from her sister to make the trip. We arrived at our flat in Santa Pola with a ...
Alicante, Spain sarbs... and noticing how he had his legs crossed asked me if I could sit like that. I told her yes, but it would be extremely uncomfortable and I probably would remain forever stuck in that position because of my inflexibility. Mary-ism #3: "So Spanish guys are more flexible, eh?" Mary asked, as she smiled, nodded in approval, raised her right eyebrow, and winked with a twinkle in her eye. She told me that maybe she should go over and sit with ...
