... to long flat stretches. We noticed that there are a lot of prisons along this highway. We didn't see all of them, but there were signs notifying us that we were in a prison area and not to pick up hitchhikers. They put these bad guys out in the middle of nowhere with very little chance of survival if they would manage to escape. There were scant signs of water, and no shade anywhere. Not a rock overhang, a tree, or even a ditch.

... parts. Not quite desert, but certainly few trees. No towns, no gas stations, just open road for miles and miles. The riding wasn't really difficult, for although there were plenty of steep slopes to climb up, I was rewarded with an easy downhill ride, where my strength would be reinvigorated. This was actually where I got my first taste ever of really, really fast downhill riding. And it was fun. On one slope I was going so fast it was hard to keep in the shoulder and hold ...

... in Arizona and the first part of Utah were amazing. Definitely made the drive a lot easier. We survived the long haul by listening to the nerdist. It is a great podcast with some great guests. Tomorrow starts the part of the trip I'm really looking forward too. We will be going through the grand Tetons and Yellowstone. We will post agin tomorrow. Hope all is ...
