On the way back to Shenyang, we were in the "hard seats" although they were quite comfortable. There were 3 seats on one side of the aisle facing 3 seats, and 2 seats on the other side. This time we were separated, so Eli and Isaiah were across from another couple and we had 2 others with us on the side with 6. This trip was during the day, so I have some good pictures of the China countryside which will be in another post.

The Great Wall at last
... at what could be considered the end/start of the entire edifice. I also like that this part of the wall is the closest to my home in the US.
I believe that I traveled here at the perfect time of year as the mountain beneath the wall was alive with beautiful autumn shades of orange, yellow, and red. In the fields below farmers worked on the harvest as a few boats made their way down the river.

... The bridge is completely illuminated, alternating between red, green, and blue. But as soon as it reaches North Korea: blackness. It is such a stark contrast, the bright, lively atmosphere on one side of the river and what seems like a space void of any living creature on the other. That night we went out for japanese food then found our way to a KTV managed by a friend of the owner of the japanese restaurant. The KTV was a big, glizty thing. We each payed around 10 dollars for a party room, and it had several couches, a personal karaoke machine (of course) and a small stage that was mounted on springs, so it bounced!
