    Last day in the 'dam!
    Another breakie at vinnies. Service wasn't so great - I think the staff were all hungover or stoned over. The people at the table next door pointed out that their table was wobbling and the response was 'what would you like me to do about that?'
    Service was a little slow so we were running late and had to rush to get to biddy and johns at the appointed hour of 11am. On one street ...

    ... meal at a lovely Italian restaurant.  A 5 am start next day and off to the White Cliffs of Dover for our ferry trip to Calais. The hour and a half went quickly. We enjoyed a delicious lunch at the Brasserie dining room and soon wewere heading    for the bus and driving through Belgium into The Netherlands.  Freeway all the way, very flat and green, crops on either side of the road.  We had no sooner entered The Netherlands and we were seeing ...

    ... hated that.We are to arrive in Amsterdam at 6 am. We have reserved a cab with 4 others to the airport. It is expensive and not so easy to get there. This airport has a train station, bus station, a shopping mall and even a grocery in it. It is a destination in itself. Once we check in to the gate there is no food. I hope we get this right. Our flight is at 1:20 pm on KLM/delta. I am holding my breath on that one! We fly through Detroit ...

    ... many are hit a day or how many bike riders hit pedestrians. It is crazy to see all of the bikes. They stop for no one! Our hotel is a group of refurbished old houses facing one of the canals. Our room is quaint (i.e. small but functional) with a wacky/tacky crystal chandelier. It isn't cheap -285 Euros a night- but that is what you pay to have a canal view.
