... tortilla chips with the meal. The enchiladas were pretty good.

Now part of the reason I don't eat western food is the price. Let me give you an example. On my way home from school I have found two places where I especially like to eat. I can get a bowl of noodles in hot soup for 6 yuan. Or I can stop at the kiosk and get a serving of fried rice or fried noodles for 3 - 5 yuan. Remember 7 yuan = $1. My ...

I really can’t figure out why China doesn’t hire a few foreigners who can speak and read Chinese. Their full time job could be to translate for signs and advertisements. They seem to want to have things translated into English, so why not do it correctly? Oh well. I can’t do it so I will just take pictures of the signs that amuse me.

I ...

I caught a cab back to the city and watched episodes of the Beijing soap followed by more Korean food. This turned out to be just what I needed, so it was a good day after all, despite not really seeing eye to eye with Dalian.

Later that night, I got a text message from Xiao Ma asking where I was and what I was up to. He said he was at Erdaohai with his dad and missed me a lot. I ...

Our last piece of advice was not to ...
Wanli, Liaoning Province, China aszliross... in that first class was the super smart student who always has all the right answers in class. He was so dejected by not having all the rules, and not succeeding like some of the other students, but it was fun to tease and use him as an example of the many proud people who were left to fend for their lives in any way they could.

I think it was a great lesson. And we successfully repeated it many more times throughout the day, and in other classes...

Ashley

All of a sudden I remembered...

Everyone else had taken out cash, but my card was having problems. The transaction got all the way to the end, and then said "The machine has insufficient funds." I checked my online banking, and sure enough, there was no withdrawal for the day before. Wanli, Liaoning Province, China aszlirossWell, I arrived back in China safely after a wonderful vacation back home. Nothing too eventful happened on the flight over. My flight was delayed a little while because of the snow in Chicago, but that wasn't too bad. While I was waiting, I talked with a couple of different Chinese ladies who were going back to China. One had lived in the US for a few ...

And I like the other two!) Good times Maple Leaf!
