It was such a pleasure spending time with all of my new friends that I met during an awesome program. It was a great experience getting to know each one individually and be able to share a little of our lives with one another.
However, I do want to dedicate this final post to the eldest member of our crew, Kelly of Claryville, N.Y. Kelly has to be the coolest 90-year-old woman I have ever met.

Day two was a little bit like day one, and I have no problem with that.
It was another early start to the day, however this morning came with a few more aches and fatigue than yesterday. No matter, we were determined to be the first on the lift and get first tracks.

People who don't ski or snowboard may see this program as tiring, dangerous, and/or too challenging. However, we all are here because we love every aspect of the sport and the thrill we get from the mountain.
I actually find it relaxing and therapeutic flying down the slopes with just a piece of wood between me and crushing defeat. There is no better way to spend a day in the winter.

... the throngs of leaf peepers would descend on the Kanc. I was energized by the scent of fresh pine and the glorious mountain vistas. My only care in the world was Surly's slipping gears. The chain popped off as soon as the grade steepened. I had to manually snap the chain into Granny Gear and leave it there for the ride up to the pass.
