... ordered a feast of about 10 small dishes of local delicacies. What stood out to us the most was her Hida Beef dish. It was served on top of what I believe is a miso leaf with some tofu and miso paste and this work of art sat on top of a tiny but fiery burner. ... When Joan first visited here in 1989, it was a small village that took a day to get to. Now they have built a road through the mountains that hovers above the valley. The longest road tunnel we passed through was 11 km.

Back at the hotel (which is pretty posh) whilst our room had a shower I opted for the onsen, which was a lot bigger than yesterdays, and had a pretty nice outdoor tub.
