We set off late morning and after a lunch/bargain hunting stop at an outlet shopping village arrived in Brisbane in the afternoon. It wasn't until Shelby's attempts at checking in online failed that she realised she was checking in 24hrs too early and she actually had another day in Auz! It was not great weather and kept threatening to rain. After checking in to our 1930's Gentlemens apartment, we went out for Shelby's last night together with Andy (an old Sleaford school friend) and ended up...
Brisbane, Queensland, Australia willandluce... out jogging and cycling - they have a lovely prom next to river and the weather is so good - its something that is lacking at home big time, it would really motivate you to get up and out but what harm. So after a few days in Brisie we flew to Cairns. We were initially going to hire a car from there and drive up but its about 1700km and we would only be driving back down again from Cairns so made no sence.
Brisbane, Queensland, Australia sharorFlying sure beats the heck out of walking or swimming, but we have had enough of planes for a while now! Santorini to Athens, to Milan, to Dubai, to Singapore, finally to Brisbane.....a day & a half travelling is just about too much!!

Glad to be back......hard to imagine where we have just been! Quick few hours kip at an ordinary hotel, after a midnight touchdown, before greeting the new day and ...
Brisbane, Queensland, Australia oz09... close taking photos was a joke, we got plenty of splashes but little else until the calf was hungry and started suckling - for this to happen; mum turns upside down and has her tail out of the water for up to 40 min's, long enough for us to get some nice snaps. We also saw a couple of dolphins but sadly they did not swim alongside the boat like they do on the telly! We also heard the whales singing - marginally better than Max on a good day - however ...
Brisbane, Queensland, Australia maxandtrudy... but luckily we exchanged emails
we left Byron Bay on Sunday on a bus at 8pm and had all day to kill so we decided the best way to pass the time was to skydive and then go see a movie :)

we met two sisters from Canada, Heather and Tara - Tara had booked skydiving for herself and the three of us decided we would go and watch her - little did we know in the van on the way to the place that we would follow suit lol we all ended up filling out forms and ...
:) Also: Let's surf Byron! Ich melde mich dann Montag wieder! Liebe Grüße in die Heimat.. Franzi
Brisbane, Queensland, Australia pacificoceanAt 5am we headed off on our 1100km trek towards "home". Hollie and Lauren were keen to break their record for distance travelled in one day (800km) and, without boring you with the details, we made it all the way! No sooner had we greeted Dad in the driveway when our dog "Poppy" appeared. Stuey had brought her down from Hervey Bay to save us the drama of having to drive up to get her. We were absolutely stoked to see Grandad, Stu and Poppy! The surprises ...
