      ... there once stood a 9 storied Pagoda. The tallest in the land until it was burned down. All that remains are the grass covered platforms the complex once stood on and rice fields.

      Nearby Bunhwangsa temple gives an idea of the architectural design of the pagoda. While this is a rebuilt version it was built in the same era by the same queen who built the Hwangnyongsa Pagoda.
