... food (Cau Lau) with beers. Mark looked like a giant on their little red street chairs! 30 July (Hoi An) We were picked up at 8:30am from our hotel for our Green Bamboo Cooking Course with Van ($40 each). First stop was the market. We were given Vietnamese hats (it was raining) and bright green baskets. It was fascinating seeing and learning about all the veg, herbs, fish, meat etc. Everything is fresh and this is definitely a key to their food being so tasty. After getting ...

Some parts of the old town are very beautiful with yellow walls and frangipanis a dominant theme in the streetscape. Interesting experience with an army of about 6 shop girls all involved in the process of finding a ...

Having read that the bus journey from Laos into Vietnam was 'the worlds worst journey' we chickened out and flew the 1 hour rather than spend up to 48 hours on a bus that may or may not have a loo or food stops... Welcome to Vietnam! Hanoi is crazy. There's no other way to describe the city. Motorbike after motorbike trying to run you over as you walk on the road. The pavement is an extension of people's houses, parking for more motorbikes and impromptu pop-up ...

... d be lying if I said I wasn’t scared. I was **** scared. Crazy thoughts run through your head when you’re far from home, missing your creature comforts and experiencing an unfamiliar sickness. So I prayed. In fact I had been praying for days now.

Some may say that what happened next was luck but I think luck is finding $20 on the footpath. At dinner that night we sat beside Faye, a Physiotherapist from Perth who confirmed Lauren's diagnosis ...
