I think we were on the road before 08:00 this morning. We had a very short uphill section from our overnight stop to rejoin the delightful road which runs over the Cisa pass, and then we were on our way. Again there had been a lot of rain in the night (once more with thunder and lightening) but it had stopped by the time we emerged. From then the day just got better and better and ...

Today Matteo & Caterina drove us to Milan for the day. We parked in the suburbs and caught the Metro in to the centre. The first stop was via Monte Napoleane where all of the big fashion houses have their flagship stores. They all have security inside the closed doors, and only allow people in if they are serious shoppers and can afford the exorbitant prices. Window shopping was all we could manage. We walked on into ...

... later! Love those direct trains! A short taxi ride and we were at our B & B Resiidence Cavour, about a block from lake front. We were met by our host Moione who checked us in, showed us our room, the residence amenities, explained a few sights to see around Lake Como and places to eat. The rest of the afternoon was spent exploring this beautiful area which we've heard so much about through the media. Now that we're here, it's as beautiful and inspiring as we envisioned it! ...

I actually hadn't originally intended to stay in Milan, but with the option to break up what would otherwise be a 12 hour train ride from Zurich to Florence I decided it would be a good idea.

I arrived late in the day and had laundry to do so most of my first night was spent reading and doing laundry, I also managed to contact someone I met in Berlin that lived in Milan to see if she could show me around the next day and so I had ...

... appreciate the course that had been set out. So after we settled the bill. Bikes went in all directions. Me a distinct disadvantage to choose which way to go independently I without sat nav so safety in numbers methinks, I tacked onto a group of four bikes going south to avoid the rain. The first bike took off like an Exocet rocket so we lost him I was running third in convoy when I noted that the rider behind peel off to get fuel . Argh what to do what if the other guy is also ...
