Finally, at 4:07 pm, we boarded the train for Beijing. We arrived at 10 p.m. and were all exhausted. Exiting out of the station was also comical. We must have taken a wrong turn and ended up walking through the equivalent of an employee lounge (which was really shady and consisted of a few workers sleeping on benches and smoking). We hopped in a cab to the hotel, and when we arrived, I was finally rewarded for this hellish day.

... with creepy bugs on sticks, and yes, this place really exists, and people (don't know who, but some people) really eat these things. The best thing - the scorpions on the sticks were still alive and kicking! Literally kicking! Check out the video in the body of the text to see for yourself. While none of us ate these delicacies, we did scream like little girls and run away. The Chinese food vendors found it pretty funny.

I had my wallet out by now. "Bu yao, bu yao," I told him, shaking my head. No thanks. I started walking away -- I'd been told that walking away is key.

The shopkeeper immediately followed on my heels, shouting. "Deng yixia! Deng yixia!" Wait! Wait! "Wu shi! Wu shi!" Fifty!

I turned back towards him. "San shi wu ma?" I asked. Thirty-five? ...
