    Day 11 Speyer to Gambshime

A travel blog entry by tandemtales on Jul 07, 2015

Simon learnt a new trick today: he worked out he can cycle the tandem no handed! ( as long as I don't wobble it, the road isn't too bumpy and the road is fairly straight). This is terrifying but kept us entertained for about an hour whilst it was perfected without crashing. We saw another 'young couple' ( below 30) on a tandem today, simon as usual gave them a big wave and luckily didn't try out his new no hands trick. Other than these we've only seen one other couple on ...

    Luxembourg to Speyer

... a disgusting looking toilet block which was locked. No showers so not really an option with temperatures soaring to 36 degrees again. We called into Lidl for supplies and decided to lunch by the Rhine under a tree and look at our options. We hoped to meet the cyclists on the path but by 3.30 we decided that we may have missed them. They had taken a route away from the river but we managed to meet them about half an hour later.. It was good ...

On Saturday we drove to a campsite just outside a town called Waldfischbach. The temperature gauge in the van was showing 38 degrees, it was becoming unbearable. Once at the campsite it wasn't any cooler. The site was busy with weekenders and was a bit noisy on Saturday night. The difference on Sunday was amazing as they all ...

    Howdy folks,

Unfortunately our good weather got cut short as happens often in spring. We went from 25 degrees to just 11 degrees in 2 days, but that didn't stop things happening! On Friday I got a call saying that I got a job! I will be working at the Decathlon Warehouse in Schwetzingen full time for minimum wage which turns out to be less than what I was getting in Canada! It will definitely be an interesting experience: I have never worked in ...

    Howdy folks,

Well it has been Carnival Week here in Germany and there have been plenty of things going on. Karneval or Fasching is a pretty big deal here and people go all out dressing up in fancy dress and going to clubs or balls. We were going to go to a big ball in Mannheim on Saturday, but instead we headed to the local one on Rosenmontag at the Seckenheim Schloss is on the outskirts of Mannheim. I got dressed up in all my Australian souvenirs: Australian Flag ...
