After an excursion in Pfortzeim yesterday to do some shopping and to check out the bike path, we found our way back to the city. It had been totally flattened during the war and was rebuilt. Only a few old buildings remain on the outskirts. We started off heading along the wrong river so, when we discovered our mistake, we headed off on a road route given to Lilli by a man from whom she had ...

We got to sleep in this morning. We decided to have breakfast at 9.00 am. This was a little different as breakfast was served to us at the table. We had fresh orange juice, fruit, breads, cheeses and bacon and eggs. Packed the car after breakfast and went for a walk through the of town. Cars are not allowed in the old city. Strolled around for an hour of so and finally left Rhien Falls around 12.00 after a quick detour to the ...

There was a bakery with a wood-fired oven where delicious bread was being made. Cuckoo clocks were in abundance. We continued in up the forest road initially to Baiersbronn which is a very ...

... As the day was reasonably clear we were rewarded with expansive views over the Baden-Baden valley. It was a popular spot for paragliding and we saw a few jumpers gliding down the valley. While there was a sign to the paragliding, we couldn't find the spot from which Louise could launch. The mountain top area had some nice gardens and picnic areas (and advertised sunbathing lawns) along ...

    Howdy folks,

Unfortunately our good weather got cut short as happens often in spring. We went from 25 degrees to just 11 degrees in 2 days, but that didn't stop things happening! On Friday I got a call saying that I got a job! I will be working at the Decathlon Warehouse in Schwetzingen full time for minimum wage which turns out to be less than what I was getting in Canada! It will definitely be an interesting experience: I have never worked in ...
