Two contrasting parts of today's ride. After a boring few miles through Yaxley just south of Peterborough, I had my last experience of the pleasant and easy riding on quiet lanes of the flat fens. I saw nobody except just south of Holme where a group of villagers were watching the Royal Scotsman parked on the adjacent rail line as the engine took on water from a fire tender.
