... was outrageous, sooooo many trucks and of course everything travelling very quickly. It was most tiring for John as the driver. The closer we got to Milan the worse it got, anyway, we survived. Luckily the road basically bypasses Milan and we were soon in Como.
Well a shock we got! The lake is pretty but Como is a huge suburb of Milan really. In fact most of the lake has housing surrounding it, albeit rather flash housing :-). Arrived at ...

Ferry to Varena( nice little town but closed up for winter). Coffee at bar with tarted up barmaid looked like she was straight out of western suburbs pub. Train direct to Milan via Lecco. Cab to hotel to deposit excess luggage - a great move in hindsight given the walk in at Venice and steps at hotel. Train to Venice was 2.5 hrs and uneventful. Ferry from train station a bit confusing and ticket ...

... but the best thing is going to a washing machine to clean our blacks and all other bits n bobs. NO MORE LAUNDERETTES!!!! Let me tell you some things about Milan....... • it's busy and the roads get jam packed super early in the morning this meaning we must leave crazy early in the morning to arrive at our schools. • the students at schools around Milan can sometimes be difficult and rude but this is just a matter ...
