Just What I Was Looking For

... of Northern Cyprus behind the Green Line is only recognized by you guessed it...Turkey. In fact, the old airport of Lefkosa is in the Turkish part and as a result of the illigitimacy of the Turkish Republic, only has flights to Turkey. This is why Larnaca and Paphos on the coast have the main airports for the rest of the country.

In Skopje a simple bridge took me from Europe to the Ottoman Empire. In Sarajevo it was as easy as crossing an ...

Nicosia or Bust

... for it himself. I don't need some overweight Greek man undressing me and I decided to mess around with him. Slooowing down the process as much as I could was awesome because the slower I undid the belt from my jeans, the more he started bouncing. "Wallet, wallet, wallet, wallet" was his next command followed by him reaching
for my shoes. I'd say I wasted about four minutes of his time and it was just great watching him come unhinged.

Where Shopping is a Pleasure

... tacky racy lingerie, all proudly displayed on clear plastic hangers. It's like the perfect dessert after shopping for your pleasures in Billa. Maybe our friend from Finland could stop by Sofia on her way home and try out her newfound "prettiness" as she called it.

I've left all that shopping madness behind and have made it to Larnaca, Cypress. I've got plenty of time here to explore and see what this desert island has to offer.

the spot where Aphrodite was born from the sea and her temple up on a
cliff. It was a very long day but one filled with several
interesting sites. I almost forgot...in Larnaka we happened upon the
church of St.. Lazarus where he was finally laid to rest.

2009—Nicosia
The drive up to the capitol city of
Nicosia was uneventful and our attempts at locating the hotel were
good but we ultimately had to park and find tourist information to
assist. Even after that we had a bit of trouble but thanks to a good
navigator we found the hotel, checked in and headed back into the
walled city for lunch. After lunch, we just started to wander around
and we took pictures of the winding ...

Its not longer Greeks or Turks that run this place

Spent a week in a resort hotel in the city of Limmosal. Toured the entire island except for the Turkish portion on the top third of Cyprus.

Most of the tourist signs are in 1) Greek 2) Russian and last but not least 3) English.

IN LIMBO, ON A HOT, DRY ISLAND

... any money left over, since the cruise was robbing me of all but $40? If there was an extra-credit question, it was: What, exactly, did the horny-headed island's shape resemble? To me, it looked like a devillish Pac-Man. -- Ooh, I nailed that question! And what prologue could be content without a brotherly foreward to accompany it!? This story's prologue is especially lucky, because the foreward is going to be another edition of the never-before-put-in ...

North Nicosia

... Cypriots were killed by Greek Cypriots. I definitely would like to know more about the other side of the story though. They took us on a tour of the old city too but we pretty much just went to places that me and my friends went to a few weeks back when we crossed the border alone. It was fun though, extremely hot, but fun.

last day in nicosia

hi there well what have we been up to in nicosia over the last couple of days, we have visited the local shopping strips, been to the bazaar and mixed with the locals, caught up with family including my mums aunty who has an uncanny resemblance to her sister - yaya ( nana ) and also today visitited a local bakery and enjoyed some local food, including kalamta olive bread, some desserts and grilled meats. we are now ...

Snow at last! Then a sobering reality check.

... talking to the guards along the "buffer/no-go zone", but I wasn't comfortable at all. We were told we were not allowed to take any photos of the guards with their guns, and there were also a lot of areas where no photography was allowed, so not a place that I will go back to in a hurry. Apart from all that, traveling to Nicosia on a Sunday is not a good idea, as in spite of the assurances we were given, we found all the churches, museums and other ancient sites closed and we were ...
