    Got the bus from Ben Tre to Vinh Long today- we were on a local bus so tried to convey to the conductor we wanted to get off at Vinh Long not Can Tho, the buses final destination. I wasn't the only one though, an older lady tumbled off hers nearly immediately, an Italian girl stacked it because the chain came off, and one of the gentlemen on the tour came back saying how bad the bikes was pretty funny and I'm actually just grateful I didn't do any major damage!     ... out of the old quarter, it was more like any large city that you would see. The road to the Mekong used to take 4 hours, but a new highway, which only allowed cars and trucks (no motorbikes) opened up a few years ago and the travel time was cut in half.
