This morning, we took a boat ride to a local fish farm. Over here, the fish farm is under a floating house, and the actual water is 3 to 4m deep netted under the house. While the fish they farm can grow to 4kg in size, they sell the fish when they are 1kg in size as it takes a lot of extra food and time to grow them to 4kg. We then walked to a mat factory to see how the grass mats were made. We then were driven to a silk factory on a rickshaw. This was a ...

Further down the river we stopped for a fruit platter (fresh mango, dragon fruit, pineapple, papaya, guava, and Vietnamese kiwi), and also on the table was some chilli salt to dip the fruit into - I thought it was sugar, so had a good dip and you can imagine my reaction! Despite our bed being hard as a rock (the Vietnamese seem to like very firm mattresses!), we had a good night’s sleep, followed by a relaxing morning of more lazing around in our hammocks, walking through the gardens and ...

We are awake at 6.00 when the boat is due to start off again. Anna has said that we will be passing a small floating market at this time so we open the curtains to have a look out. there is a small market but not much to see really. Anna walks past on the walkway outside the window and sees us. She knocks on the window and asks if we want a coffee. a couple of minutes later she comes back with two coffees which she hands I through the window.

      We have a ...

In the evening we ventured out looking for somewhere to eat that we'd read decent reviews for- both places we tried were closed so we went elsewhere. The food however looked pretty grim so we had a liquid dinner of beer instead. Back at the hotel we had our trusty sleeping bag liners at the ...
