This morning, we took a boat ride to a local fish farm. Over here, the fish farm is under a floating house, and the actual water is 3 to 4m deep netted under the house. While the fish they farm can grow to 4kg in size, they sell the fish when they are 1kg in size as it takes a lot of extra food and time to grow them to 4kg. We then walked to a mat factory to see how the grass mats were made. We then were driven to a silk factory on a rickshaw. This was a ...

Yuk! They provided some traditional Vietnamese music to entertain us. Our tour guide even started ...

... they were dry they peeled them off and put them through the shredder. Rice noodles, done. I tried out the rice noodle soup for breakfast, a local favourite. It was alright, bit bland for me though. After that we headed back to port and the hotel. The next plan was to go to the water park. It was a 30 minute walk there. We saw a sign saying that it opened at 1230. It looked good with slides and rides. We had a few hours to kill so we walked around and found a ...

... with Tu in Sapa, he and Mikey were best buds and by the end of the tour, Mikey had been nicknamed Happy Buddha!

I had been pre-warned that amongst other forms of transport, most of the tour was on the back of a motorbike, so I was ready when Johnny led us outside and we each jumped on the back of a bike (yes mum, they had helmets!). It didn’t take me long to relax, especially once we left the city traffic and got out into the countryside, I just sat back and enjoyed ...
