This was a very busy day, packed with scenic highlights and lots of driving. When I turned in our room keys at the reception desk, the same woman who’d checked us in, along with her husband, were present. The first thing she said was, “How are you going?” This was confusing to me. I didn’t know how to answer. Was she asking …

... meal at the Reef Steak and Seafood and came back and did a load of clothes. I was lying in bed when I remembered the stars. I threw on some clothes and went outside with the Google Stars app on my cell phone but there were too many lights so I went to bed. Then there was the "splat....splat.....splat" as another seagull came in for a strafing run, I'm sure there must be a target on top of our van, and finally the crump and clack clack clackety ...

Day 27 - Surat Bay to Curio Bay (54 miles)

Meandering day to Curio Bay. Started in Owaka museum for shipwreck stuff, the coast is littered with them but it does look like Cornwall or Pembrokeshire so not surprising I suppose. We learned that the ship "Surat" went aground on the rocks and gave the name to Surat Bay where we were staying. There were 270 on board, mainly British and a few Europeans all emigrating to NZ, many were craftsmen so had their tools ...
