Today we visited some fabulous Roman ruins at Conimbriga with great mosaics. Then it was off to a monument under UNESCO World Heritage protection, the Abbey of the Gothic Manueline "Mosteiro de Santa Maria de Vitoria" in Batalha. We finished the day with a visit to Fatima, the Catholic pilgrimage village where Our Lady appeared to 3 shepherd children in 1917. It was awful! Huge with ghastly tacky souvenir shops. Our accommodation tonight is the gorgeous Pousada de Conde de ...

... the river, etc. It’s quite a pretty town, and it sure would be prettier if the sun was out. We walk around the town and decide not to do the boat tour in and around the town because Aaron and I want to do the real thing in Venice, plus the weather doesn’t look promising and it looks like it will bucket down rain soon. We walk in and out of streets to try and find a café to take cover whilst the rain clouds pass, however Aaron and I find a shoe shop and we go into there. ...

I make it to Oliveira da Azemeis. (Olivier die Muis). And decide that since I have done two days worth of walking in one day, I am going to book into the hotel. I need thick wallks, a bath. no pilgrims waking up at 06h00, and decent coffee. In fact, I deserve it. As I walk into the village, a man with ...

In Anadia kry ek my koffie reg - warm en sterk. Danksy die vriendelik man in die Albergue gisteraand wat dit vir my neergeskryf het (en my wasgoed vir ...

Went to Agueda this morning by train from Averio to check out the umbrellas that are up for the art festival. Only a 20min train ride each way. Spent a few hours in the town as the train only came once an hour anyway. Trained back to Averio and then the Metro train into Porto which ...
