Julie and I returned the car to Hertz, a few km out of Oulu and clocked the mileage or kilometreage, to be more precise – we’d done 2,790km since we’d picked up the car on 7th July. ... in terms of human nature, is the fact that any fish these people caught were just thrown on the floor to expire, even tiny ones of a couple of inches – why? What possible reason can they have to want to see an animal suffering needlessly- if it gives them pleasure that is worrying and if they are indifferent, that is equally worrying. With that depressing thought and with it being very likely that nothing much else worth reporting will happen today, I’ll stop here. ...
