This is truly a first for me….spending Christmas Day touring the most significant palace museum for a Chinese nation that does not believe in one true God. I was not on a mission quest to convert anyone, nor did I conscientiously want to miss spending Christmas with family & friends. It happened only due to timing and I was still able to …
I earned it. Oh, yes I did! My new T-shirt says, "I climbed The Great Wall," and indeed, I did. The Great Wall truly lives up to absolutely ALL of its hype. It's made of stone, brick, wood, and glutinous rice (yes, you read that correctly) and it is an engineering masterpiece. We visited the Mutianyu section, a dramatic photo-op in every line of …

The hotel was part of our tour package, located very close to The Forbidden City. The location was the best part to help limit travel time. Considered a 4 star, but probably a 3 star by U.S. standards. Clean. Warm. Acceptable breakfast, but mainly Asian style "western" food. Typical stiff bed, small rooms. Internet additional charge. Wifi only in lobby. Older hotel. Got the job done.
