Calella was buzzing long after the procession had finally finished; bars and cafes were full and bakeries were open and selling the "Tortell de Reis", a large donut filled with cream with a few red cherries and bits of green vermicelli on top to represent two of the kings.....obviously couldn't think of a blue fruit to stick in....so blue king not represented on the donut!

Girona, Pals and Calella de Palafrugell

... now have some fish restaurants – and some even open! Good lunch and nice wine. We then walked up to Platja del Canadell, the longest of Calella de Palafrugell`s beaches at about 200m. Being winter though (early December) the town was almost completely closed, or being refurbished, to be available for the next big holiday rush at Christmas.

And so to home and the cathedral christmas markets but that is elsewhere.

... pork steak, roasted chicken, creme carmel, lemon ice-cream and a full bottle of red wine...all served by a waiter from Venezuela who spoke English very well! One of our best meals...!

The drive home was lovely, with a glorious sunset painting the clouds pink...back to the farm, with donkey, pony and cattle awaiting us...a perfect day!

... we're not sure who frequents them, but we see lots of cars out front! Apparently, out on the coast in a tiny town called Roses, there was a three-star Michelin restaurant, elBulli, under Chef Ferran Adria that has won the "best restaurant in the world" title an unprecedented five times, so popular that all the 8,000 bookings for an entire year of reservations are taken on one day, at €200-300 per menu! Something has gone ...
