A More Authentic Cuba In The Countryside

So I went to the bus station and negotiated a ride with locals in a old taxi, quicker and cheaper than the touristy bus. So it's an old cool American taxi that brought me there. Vinales, first cute countryside town in the South West of Cuba, a nice valley surrounded by mountains. This place is touristy but nothing compared to the kind of tourism you get in Havana; no fancy hotels, just bed and breakfast, but lots of them. Basically since Cuba ...

... centre? Once at the Capitolio we gave this idiot two CUC extra.

After eating a quick lunch and getting some additional stuff out of the backpack we had left in Havana, we took a taxi to the Viazul bus station in Havana only to find out that there were no more seats available on the bus to Vinales. Fortunately we were not the only ones trying to get to Vinales and quickly agreed with a Dutch couple to share the cost of a taxi to Vinales. Another three hours later we ...

      ... old beasts.

We passed the spot where the police had been & they were gone, maybe to celebrate their afternoons work of being fun police. When we arrived at the river we all poured a rum & cola & toasted our arrival. Isn’t it ironic that in Cuba this drink is called “Cuba Libre” which translates to “free Cuba”.........hardly the case.

With the cars parked on a bridge about 10 meters above the river, the ...
