Buenos Aires Force One

... we had allotted in Buenos Aires. Dave was good enough to help out during Millington's traumatic last few hours and used his computer expertness to salvage what he could from the wreckage of that little warrior. It was the very definition of a busman's holiday for him but it was much appreciated. Not least by you good people who can now hear about my many adventures once again. We did actually get out of the hostel each day as well though. We went to a fantastic drumming show and ...

Buenos Aires!! My first two weeks...

... set off along another main street... 15 minutes later I realised, again, that I had gone the wrong way down that street!! I gave up. Returned to the hostel. A good start to the trip, lost my first friend within 3 hours.

Actually, immediately after, on setting out to explore the city with friend #2 (Jess) we bumped into Gareth. There´s only 13 million people here, a small town.

First Night
Steak & Malbec Wine.... wow ...

Sightseeing and Sunday Roast

Been very busy the last week or so - celebrating, sightseeing, getting addicted to Bejewelled Blita on Facebook and volunteering, it's a hard life!

Friday 29th May was a double celebration - passed the CELTA course and it was also Stacey's birthday so we had a big barbeque (known as an Asado here) on Matt and Stacey's roof terrace. The steak and baked potatoes were excellent and the party continued into the wee small hours although I did ...

Football.... Argentinian Style!

... River missed a goal and he got totally abused by his adoring fans, when you hot your hot, when you not, you get shot! So when the game finished we had to wait half and hour while the away team (colon) left the stadium. The two teams are not allowed to leave at the same time... for obvious reasons. No booze allowed in the stadium at all. Only cokes and waters. Which after going to the game can totally understand why! There are ...

... Andes. Everything from the naturally clean small town, the amazing river that runs through town and the surrounding Andean mountains, the owners of the Alina's Inn and the Iowa couple we met while there made this place the most loved by the Willbond's. Least favorite place overall and why? We both have to agree that Mendoza, Argentina was the one place we wish we had skipped. Among many other things, this is where the hostel owner was caught ...

Argentina: Buenos Aires

... first was in an old theatre which is now a book shop. The coffee area is on the stage and the curtains are still there and you can see all the balconys. It was beautiful, we would never have known about it if she hadn't taken us so it is a bit of a bonus. Not sure what are plans are for Christmas so far. It's quite a catholic country so everything closes on the 24th and 25th, we are hoping to go out somewhere for christmas dinner so think it ...

Day 3: Apple Store, Japanese Garden, Tango music

... The streets have lots of shops and people. As it is a busy street, lots of buses and cars add to the noise. Harvey seems to be fine with this error and doesn't seem to be upset with me. I am amused that I made such a silly error. Well, we finally make it to La Rural after another 40 minutes or so of walking. And when we walk up to the entrance, we are informed that the fair opens at 3 PM, in two more hours! Now what to do? We're ...

... the times when Ladies of Ill Repute plied their trade along the footpaths while others claim it is from the sighs of the condemned who were escorted through here on their way to execution by firing squad.) On a dark windy night, I think I would prefer to walk among the ghosts of the former, wouldn´t you? On another street I chanced upon an Argentine film crew setting up for a location shoot. The shoot was either ...
