      Had an 8 hour layover in Dubai... managed to leave the airport and took the metro rail in to the city. Went to the dubai mall.... frigging enormous. Purchased a ticket to the 124th floor of the Burj Khalifa... currently the tallest building in the world. took a cab back to the airport. Pretty unforgettable ...

      ... ventured up just after sunset in the 3rd fastest elevator in the world which took less than 1 minute to travel 124 floors to the viewing deck (the 2nd highest in the world).

      Standing outside on the observation deck some 452m in the air looking up another 380m odd meters to the top of the spire which was merely a bright dot in the sky was an amazing and somewhat mind bending experience considering the height we were already in the air when standing on the deck. ...
