Historical Traveler Reviews Crystal Beach Suites & Health Club Miami Beach

    Outside Construction

    from

The exterior of this hotel is presently being remodeled. I stayed at this hotel last year, but recently passed by a few times since it was close to restaurants we ate during our trip this year.

Also, the side street that leads to the beach in which the hotel's entrance is located, was very dark at night as it was not illuminated at all. I believe this could pose a serious security problem.

Despite all this, I was surprised that this hotel had higher tariffs this year verses last on the same reservation sites. I believe there are better choices for the same $$.

Moderate oceanfront propery in a good location

    from

I have stayed there several times. Once as a timeshare guest and another one just booked it as a hotel. The location is nice, right on a beach, a bit far from south beach, but taking S bus is very helpful in getting there. Also, no need to rent a car. Arriving to airport in Miami is enough. The hotel is not very clean and it is kind of an old run down property, but it is ok. I have stayed in world crown resorts and many timeshare clubs and it is hard to compare this one with other ones. Room are a bit small, also the hotel lies about the free breakfat. Only if you are an owner of a timeshare or booked this hotel through reservation you get free breakfast, if you arrive as a guest of a timeshare you don't get it. There are homeless people very close to hotel, that makes you kind of scared sometimes and these people beg for money. The beach is not very clean. Macdonalds right next to hotel and can be very useful especially if you get hungry at 3am. Oh, get an entertaiment book before you go, this way you save money in restaurants that are close by.

    Disgusting

    from

My family and I stayed at this hotel and were disgusted by it. First of all they dont tell you about all the construction there doing on the building. Its a total mess. There were homeless people sleeping on the beach right next to the hotel. When we went up to our 1 bedroom hotel suite there was no space for us to move around in. The bedrooms bed had pubic hairs all over the sheets. The sofa bed had hair all over its sheets also. It was the most disgusting hotel ever and we ended up leaving the next day to a different hotel. I do not recomend this hotel to anyone.

    Crystal Beach Suites

    from

crystal beach suites was not a 5 star resort but it was well worth the price for the getaway week. The staff was friendly and helpful. I didnt like the valet parking set up. The room was ok.

    A bit off the track...Nov2003..

    from

Nov 2003 Tried this place based on reviews etc, and found it to be clean, with friendly staff...but...beach access was right outside the front doors..(which was under construction), but you had to wade through a bunch of homeless, amidst a bottle strewn path.. Stick with the pool, would be my advice..

This was our hotel of choice between two cruises, and we chose it also

based on the mention of a guest laundry...(I guess one washer and one

dryer between 2 floors of people, might ...might be considered as

described..), however beware of the floors in the "guest laundry", as

they are falling in.. The Crystal Beach is in a quiet area, valet

parking ($10.)..or taxis..($23 to the populated areas). The 1bedr.

suite was small, but clean and satisfactory..and the rate was about $80

    US. including continental breakfast .

    Excellent value and enjoyable stay

    from

We stayed 3 nights in November/03 prior to a 7 day cruise. Great deal through Hotelkingdom.com $67.50/night for a suite with 2 TVs and full kitchen. Use the local bus from the airport for $1.25 per person exact change. You can get the routing via email from the Miami public transport site. Also use the bus to go to South Beach and to the port (a transfer to Seaport bus costs an extra 25 cents). One slow elevator takes getting used to, and no ocean view from the room. Very nice Italian restaurant at Collins and 73rd. Close to Publix supermarket, Enterprise car rental, lots of other stores and restaurants, the beach is great. Also enjoyed lunch at Nexxt on Lincoln Rd. Mall South Beach.

Yes, the all-night liquer stores does bring some unattractive folks but there is good police presence and we never heard any sirens or seen evidence of crime. Other reviews were helpful to make our choice, so read them too. If you use the free parking lot on 73rd, don't park under the electric wires. The birds will cover your car with their dinner...

    Late Spring 03 Stay

    from

Crystal Beach offers one bedroom suites with a living room containing a sofa bed in addition to the bedroom. The rooms are a little dreary, but for the price we paid - 67.00/night plus tax through "Hotel Kingdom.com" - its a good value. Included is a simple breakfast and a gym.

Be wary of the crowd that frequents this beach, its not South Beach. If you're lucky, you'll find metered parking just across the street. I never put coins in the meter, and was never ticketed either. Otherwise, there's a public lot a block away.

Recommended restaurants is a Peruvian seafood place just across the street on Collins, and a Brazilian restaurant one or two blocks south on Collins Ave. Miami Beach beats CA beaches anytime!

    Nice, but could do better

    from

The Crystal Beach Suites is your average hotel. When we were arrived we had to valet park our vehicle, even though we were timeshare guests it turned out to be i believe 10 dollars a day or something around there.

The rooms were a nice size. The only problem we had here was the leaky sinks, and Housekeeping came ONE time during our 7 night stay.... Makes you think how many times did my sheets get changed and my floor get vacuumed. Also it is pretty far from the Nightlife if thats what you are into. Its iN a very quiet nieghborhood and what isthe best amenity would be the Beach access which is right there, ignore all the homeless that chill by the entrance. I am going back to Miami Beach this week and I am going to stay closer to South Beach in another hotel to try it out.

Enjoy the Beach, but Don't use the pullout sofa

    from

Disappointing exterior, but was under construction when we stayed (April, 2003). The room was acceptable-- definitely Miami Beach decor, comfortable bedroom, nice kitchenette and counter for eating. We stayed with friends and therefore needed the pullout sofa-- it was probably the worst pullout we have ever slept on. Shower was hot with good pressure. Hotel personnel generally very pleasant and accomodating. A reasonable experience for the price we paid. Best part was the proximity to the beach-- just outside the hotel gate.

Definitly a place to consider if you're on a budget!

    from

I had used TripAdvisor to help me find a decent hotel in Miami Beach. However I got a really good rate for this one and decided to take a chance although there were no reviews for it. Overall this hotel is alright. Not the nicest place I've ever stayed at, but the rate we got for it was definitly worth it! The suites are very nice, just like in the pictures with the pink couches and all. Very Floridian! The maid service was great too. From the outside the hotel isn't much to look at (It's under renovation). The inside is nice and newly renovated. Overall it's just a small, cozy little hotel. Not a place you will likely spend much time in. There's a pool outside and a hottub. It also a health club and has a nice sized gym. The beach is just right outside, although the hotel does not have oceanviews. The hotel is far from South Beach and is about a $12 cab ride. Bal Harbor shops is also pretty far, but will only cost around $5 for a cab. There are lots of shops nearby and places to eat at, but all the action of south beach will not be found here! A rental car will definitly come in handy! Spring Breakers may be disappointed with the quietness and the location. Young kids will probably be bored. I'd recommend it for couples on a budget who want a nice hotel right on the beach but away from the crowds and craziness of South Beach. If you are willing to spend the $$$, though there are a lot more much nicer places to stay! Don't let the reviews scare you off though, I saw some AMAZING hotels that had gotten very poor reviews on this site. I don't have anything to complain about when it comes to crystal beach suites, but I will probably look elsewhere to stay next time I visit!

... only made it to 8th Ave before heading to the beach!

So, it is HOT and HUMID. Matt and Jen walked back along the sand. Sarah and Emma danced, skipped, ran, jumped and weaved in, through and out of the water. Near our hotel, we all jumped into the ocean but it was barely cooler than the air so while nice, not as refreshing as it could have been! It was a great intro to the ocean ...

Driving from Miami to West Palm Beach is a bit like driving from Sydney to the Central Coast in NSW, though the road is maybe 6 lanes each way for much of the trip, and you are going through built up area {not national park) between the cities. Again this is ...

We all laughed at the fact that Ryan began working with us in Saint Thomas and traveled for two months south to Saint Lucia and now it took only 2 days north to return there. We arrived late Tuesday night and were able to enjoy dry land for the entire next day, getting another night’s rest and departing in the dark hours of the morning on Thursday. So we went on this boat tour to find alligators, and our texas boat tour guide made the ride even more awesome, with his jokes and accent. So we saw only like some baby alligators and small ones, but it was still a nice experience. After that we saw an ...
