... to Palermo. I got many smiles (NOT smirks) and greetings: "ciao" and "bongiorno!" I felt overall much safer here than I ever did in Palermo and even some parts of Rome. It was/is a small town; my speed.

... that great in Catania. It has one main shopping street with the typical cathedral, fountain and an elephant statue with a pole on it. I’m not sure why
there is an elephant statue in the middle of a square, but it is somewhat famous and the landmark for Catania. There is no beach here near the city.

... Given that I am with the locals, they do know where the affordable restaurants are. During a walk we got to see Dolce and Cabana in the flesh, he seemed to be drawing quite a crowd.

For dinner we joined my cousin Nello, Paola, and their friends at "Zeppos Restaurant" for dinner. Great Sicilian Cuisine. After dinner another walk, returning to the cars before being driven home to Acireale.

Today I had a chill-out day, so Pina, Saro and I enjoyed an outing to Corso Umberto for a Peach Granita macchiato with Mandola. After breakfast we all went shopping.
