lo siento

Our sincerest apologies, but it turns out that they have Nazi computer restrictions and we cannot use a flashdrive to upload the photos :(. Unfortunately, this means that you will have to a) wait until we can connect on Nick's computer, which will be unreliable at best, or b) wait until we get home. Hopefully, we will find a way to amend the issue. All our love, Katie and Nick

Lovely Lake Como

... good for what you pay!! And awesome for a backpacker!!
Went for drinks at Frank's Bar which Patrick who owns the hotel recommended. Turned out to be a pretty trendy cocktail joint
where you pay for your drink at 1 place then get it at another. 10 Euro for a beverage no matter what you had so naturally I ordered a long island ice tea!!!

The "wow I have a lot to catch up on" entry

I'm sorry I haven't written in sooooo long! Lots of things have happened since my last entry. Some good, some bad. Immediately following the Cremona weekend of fun, I got in trouble for not interacting enough with the boys and writing too much. I need to write in my journal a lot, not only to remember everything, but it keeps me sane, it's like talking to someone when I write. If I can't write...I feel like going crazy, since I don't ...

... quaint with beautiful villas. We walked the gardens of the Melza Villa. The canons in the photos are not toys....they are from the Napoleonic period...used to defeat Milan. The keys are to the city of Milan from the 1700's.

The food here is terrific. We travel back to Milan tomorrow to pick up our friends and head to the villa in Montanione. Forecast is for thunderstorms...yeah!

Lake Como

... Every now and then there is a little town of brightly coloured houses, a beautiful church or an extravagant villa. I met this cute old ouple from australia on the first ferry and bumped in to them on my last ferry.

Highlights would have to have been Villa Olmo at Como which was a stunning cream coloured villa with ridiculously over the top interiors (gold everything!) and villa Carlotta at Tremezzio. the villa was a popular stopping place in the 18th century ...

Minibreak in Lugano

My friend had the fabulous idea of going to Lugano this weekend and I am not one to turn down great ideas. I still had my Canadian friend staying with me as well and he was ready to move on, but I convinced him to wait until he sees Lugano before he moves on to the next country on his list.

So we made a three-day weekend out of it and had a fabulous time. Lugano is so beautiful! The winding streets, steep hills, charming shopping ...

... grape vines growing in the garden, and ivy trying pull the house into the fertile earth are truely romantic. I don't think there is a better day then walking down little streets and seeing life in ancient places, I wish you could all experience it to. The weather certainly doesn't hurt anything, coming from the cold alps to a sunny lake in Italy was perfection, packing away the rain coat was a nice feeling. Como is a place of life, and if I came back I might never leave.

... could see the Alps in the distance and the extension of the lake in all three directions. After a bunch of pictures and a little time to soak up the sun we grabbed some lunch and gelato before sneaking onto a faster ferry back to Como. Back in Como it was almost 4:30 and we were finally ready to check into the hotel. We opened the door of the room and were immediately in heaven. The room had a window right over the docks and had a ...

... this where the manufacturing works is the focal point of the town. But then this is not your normal, bog standard factory. Since the 1940’s it has been manufacturing Ferraris, and from the balcony of our room we could look directly across the street to the factory’s front gates, where we would be presenting ourselves at 9am the next morning to go inside for a tour.

Hoges and I set out on foot to spend the evening exploring the small town, and in only a ...

... in public. On our own for 30 minutes Anne and I grabbed a cup of coffee and strolled aimlessly about until it was time to go. The bus took us around the outskirts of Milan and headed towards Lake Como. In the distance we could see the snow covered peaks of the Dolomites and the beginnings of the Swiss Alps. We stopped on the waters edge and were given 30 minutes to have lunch whereupon we and B&P found a café close by and whilst I ate lightly they tucked in to ...
